I have always felt there is a magical and romantic beauty that comes with stormy weather. The magnificence of a sky filled with cascading hues of grey contrasting against a green landscape makes everything appear fresh and vibrant.
One wedding in particular reminded me of the beauty that can be captured in such passionate weather.
Bridget and Shane were married on the harbour at Captain’s Cove in Paynesville, Victoria, amidst flood ravaged countryside.
While the rain drizzled, the calm and romantic words of Nora Jones accompanied the summer pastels of the bridesmaids lemon dresses while holding the warm orange Calla Lilies to invoke a perfect atmosphere.
The Lilies were a wedding gift from Bridget’s sister which she arranged through her florist May Flower Designs.

Bridget’s grandfather proudly escorted her down the aisle to where Shane and the Air force Padre Dean Quilty waited to marry the couple.
Despite the drizzle, the wedding party and guests kept a relaxed and happy heart throughout the ceremony which has shone through in the photographs.

Like many rainy-summer days in Victoria, the air was warm and the bridal party was dressed appropriately with the groomsmen wearing tie-less shirts and the ladies in gorgeous petite jeweled sandals. Bridget looked really sweet in a beautiful free-flowing dress designed by Maggie Sottero from Raffaele Ciuca with lovely capped sleeves.
Adorned with edible shells and sand, the cake was simple but gorgeous and kept with the beach theme. Atop the two tiers the lovely bride and groom sit fishing in a rowing boat. Bridget found the cake via word-of-mouth from My Cakery Bakery, with the precious couple made by West Cake Decorations.

Always remember when you are planning your big day that weather is the one factor that can never be planned, so always have a plan B.
Bridget and Shane had hoped for some classic beach photos to be taken, however because of the rainy weather, we resorted to plan B and took some great photos at the Fig Café instead.

The thing I particularly loved about this wedding was how the couple enjoyed their special day together.
Bridget had the best smile I’ve ever seen, she is one of those special people who are able to light up an entire room with their bubbly personality.
Always remember rain, hail or shine, the glass is always half-full so relax and enjoy whatever the day has in store for you. I would like to thank both Bridget and Shane for allowing me to be part of their wedding day.
