Sara and Steven enjoyed their beautiful ceremony and reception at the popular Stones of the Yarra Valley, a setting gently nestled in rolling hills and vineyards.

The venue was decorated beautifully in hues of pretty blues, creams and dusky pink flowers that revealed a relaxed and whimsical style and reflected Sara’s creativity.

The couple had been together for 10 years and were living in the UK when, on their anniversary, Steven swept Sara away for a romantic Brighton seaside getaway. It was on that special occasion that Steven proposed to Sara and, through tears of happiness and surprise, she said yes.

They met at a football grand final party when they were just 17 and now, more than a decade later, they held hands under a beautiful March sun and promised they would be together forever.

The afternoon of the wedding was beautiful and warm.  Sara had rented Brentwood House, quaint refurbished 1940s weatherboard in Healesville, in which to get ready for the big occasion.

Sara’s bridesmaids helped carefully button up her one-of-a-kind wedding gown that had been lovingly covered in French lace cut from the dress her mother was married in.

For Sara the dress was unique because her Mum, a former bridal dress maker, had sewn the gown herself.

Sara’s look was sophisticated and contemporary while having beautiful vintage elements. The shoulders of her gown had beautiful diamanté encrusted capped sleeves and unlike the traditional veil, Sara wore a tulle fascinator.

The bridesmaids were dressed in different brands but all complemented each other in a pale shade of dusky pink.

Before long Sara and her ladies were travelling to the chapel in a classic 1950s car that belonged to Steven’s grandfather and is treasured by his family.

Sara said one of her favourite moments during the wedding was seeing Steven, proud with tears, watch her as she walked toward him down the aisle.

In their 12 years together, Sara and Steven had weathered adolescence and foreign countries and both dearly loved how well their personalities complimented each other.

Jenny and Tom’s beautiful wedding at Church Street Enoteca in Melbourne Richmond was stylish, sophisticated and relaxed event to photograph.

Tom greeted his bride-to-be at her parents’ home and was overwhelmed by Jenny looking gorgeous in an elegant white Linda Gorringe gown, with her hair pulled in a pretty soft twist.

Together with their family the couple strolled from their home to nearby Barkley Gardens in Richmond. There they walked each other down the aisle, and were married underneath luscious green trees during a perfect Melbourne day.

Afterwards Jenny, Tom and their family and friends danced, drank and celebrated at Enoteca on Church Street, a gorgeous art deco restaurant that features wooden floorboards and vintage posters.

Their story spans inter-state borders: they met through a mutual friend who had known Tom in Adelaide and had met Jenny at the Richmond Rowing Club.

The romance started there from there, with Jenny and Tom enjoying long bikes, weekends away surfing, and cruising the Gippsland Lakes, until they both realized their affection from each other.

Then during a romantic mini-break, over a bottle of champagne, they both realised they wanted to make their love official.

Tom said he loves Jenny’s enthusiasm, energy, her ability to just get things done and make things happen. Jenny inspires him to achieve more for himself.

In Jenny’s words “She loves Tom’s good nature and his interest in everything, his vibrant, confident personality was infectious.

Vicki and Pedro’s Melbourne wedding at Abbotsford Convent was a simply beautiful celebration to photograph.

I think what made this wedding special was the exuberance and romance that surrounded Vicki and Pedro, and their family and friends.

Vicki was the blushing bride and she wore a stunning lace dress made by New York designer Lazaro.

Her hair was beautifully vintage with a sweeping wave reminiscent of a bygone era.

Pedro stood tall and handsome. He had a very original look, with a slim fitting grey suit and a formal bow tie.

They were married underneath a gorgeous bower of pink, purple and white roses draped amongst luscious greenery in the courtyard of Abbotsford Convent, one of Melbourne’s iconic heritage properties.

Flowers girls dressed in cute blush coloured dresses from Seed Kids held up a sign draped with ribbons that read `here comes the bride, while the guests waved small handcrafted congratulations flags.

Wedding styling company The Style Co adorned the ceremony and reception with hundreds of flowers and greenery that gave the space a real sense of wild beauty. These wild flowers and simple beauties filled the celebration with fresh vivacity.

Pedro is Brazilian and family and friends came from Brazil and all over the world to help the couple celebrate. Each table at the reception had a label that named where the guests were from.

Vicki and Pedro met they were both working as sales reps and about two and a half years ago and exchanged business cards.

Pedro said he admired how self-confident and genuine Vicki was and Vicki said she was won over by how Pedro made her feel so comfortable and special when they were together.

Pedro made a surprise proposal to Vicki at the Qantas check-in as they were about to travel to Jamaica.

He carefully handed a camera to the woman at the check-in counter and bent down on one knee before asking her to marry him!

I am sure this true romance will flourish throughout their marriage!

I photographed Vanessa and Corey’s romantic engagement portraits earlier this year. It was a true privilege to photograph their wedding at Vines of Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsular.

Vines of Red Hill was the perfect setting for such a beautiful couple who said their vows underneath towering gum trees, against the gorgeous backdrop of the Australian bush.

Vanessa looked elegant in her Sophie Novak gown that had a beautiful corset featuring silk flowers, while Corey looked dashingly handsome in a charcoal Ted Baker suit.

We took their portrait photos along the meandering path lined with fruit trees and flowering bushes.

When the time came to say their vows, Vanessa and Corey were so focused on each other it was like there was nobody else watching…

My favourite part of their wedding was when Vanessa and Corey had their first dance as a married couple.

Not only did they do a contemporary western dance, but that was followed by some traditional Jewish dancing which had all the guests joining the couple on the dance floor.

Vanessa and Corey have known each other for almost 10 years and met through mutual friends.

They travelled around the world together for more than a year in Europe, living in Sweden, visiting Corey’s family in Holland and then Vanessa’s family in England.

Vanessa and Corey are such a genuine and down to earth couple – it was a pleasure to photograph them on such an important day in their lives.

Claire and Jeremy were married at the beautiful Red Hill Lavender Farm on the Mornington Peninsula.

They had spent many long hours crafting, organising and preparing for the day. All the hard work had paid off and their under-the-water themed wedding had finally arrived and it truly looked spectacular.

Claire wowed their crowd of family and friends with her beautiful and intricate antique white lace Stellini gown.

Atop her long brown locks, Claire wore a treasured headband that had belonged to her grandmother.

The couple spoke their vows in front of their closest friends and family alongside the beautiful lake and amongst the vivid colours of nature.

Claire’s four bridesmaids wore individual dresses in varying shades of green, finished off with a hint of cream to match the bride.

The weather had been rainy all morning in the lead up to Claire and Jeremy’s special day, but miraculously cleared for their wedding and the sun shone all afternoon.

The two met through Jeremy’s sister Melanie and Claire’s sister-in-law Crystal when they were camping in Wye River and they spent the weekend getting to know each other.

Since that first weekend together Claire and Jeremy have shared a love of travel, visiting Vanuatu, Mexico, America and the Galapagos Islands.

For their honeymoon Claire and Jeremy visited the Greek Islands, Egypt and Jordan but I am sure that this is only the first of many adventures ahead together.

Jodie and Shannon made their commitment to one another at Gum Gully Farm, nestled in the green rolling hills of Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges. It was a quaint setting full of wonderful rustic charm, where the couple’s closest family and friends gathered to celebrate an intimate wedding.

Jodie and Shannon met through work more than 10 years ago, and built a strong and powerful relationship.

Shannon surprised Jodie while they were on holiday visiting his family in the United States and they were engaged at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood in 2008.

Jodie and Shannon opted for a delightful mix of the traditional and the contemporary for their country wedding. They wanted to support each other through the ceremony without bridesmaids or groomsmen, and I think it worked beautifully!

A bouquet of lilac, pale pink, cream and soft greens complimented Jodie’s strapless white Maggie Set gown.

Shannon, standing tall and handsome in his beautifully cut Hugo Boss suit, took Jodie’s hand and the two guided each other down the aisle.

Comforting pastel colours and soft fairy lights set the scene as the couple’s guests enjoyed a night of laughter, dancing and happiness.

What a beautiful day it was to be a photographer at Gum Gully Farm for Jodie and Shannon’s wedding. Here is a little sneak peek! More coming soon….

Lang and Vuth’s wedding was a tribute to their Cambodian and Chinese heritage and a celebration of their life together in Australia – a mix of Asian and Western traditions.

The vibrant red dress worn by Lang during the first part of her wedding day was both traditional and symbolic The beautiful Kwa Qun gown acknowledged her Chinese heritage, and held a special family connection as it had been worn by Lang’s sister-in-law at her engagement in China.

The traditional Chinese dress was embroidered with the symbolic emblems of a dragon and phoenix, representing male and female, and the bride celebrated her Cambodian culture by wearing a wooden beaded anklet.

Family and friends gathered at the family home to help prepare a delicious banquet for the wedding day that included hot congee, noodles and other amazing treats for the couple’s guests. The theme at the house was the colour red – symbolising happiness and good fortune. Before lunch the couple held a traditional Tea Ceremony to introduce the bride and groom into their new family.

As I photographed the couple and their family it was lovely to see the laughter, food and celebration that surrounded Lang and Vuth on their special day.

While the rain poured for most of the week leading up to the wedding, like a miracle the clouds lifted and the sun shone through on the day.

Lang was born in Australia and told me she enjoyed the natural beauty which is why she decided to hold her wedding reception in Wattle Park, Surrey Hills at Arlington.

Part of the wedding theme was a celebration of Spring and the natural environment. Lang organised beautiful rustic signs, fresh flowers in little bottles she had collected throughout the year. In her bouquet there was mix of roses in various pink & orange tones, freesia, carnations, billy buttons & potato vine wrapped in hessian fabric, tied by a heart and enclosed in a birdcage pendant.

The second part of the Lang and Vuth’s wedding was the exchange of vows in the western tradition.

Lang changed into a gorgeous off-white Corston Couture dress and the couple were married by civil celebrant Nathalie Brewer under a lush green arch at the park.

I loved photographing this special couple. Not only did they cherish each other but it was a day for family and friends to gather and celebrate the union. Thank you Lang and Vuth for allowing me to be a small part of your special day!

A beautiful wedding day is often made even more special by the contribution of family and friends.

I recently photographed Emily and Mark’s wedding day where family played a huge part. There was a wonderful mix of fun, laughter, celebration and tradition.

Emily spent the day getting ready amongst her bridesmaids and closest family. Her mother, father, uncles, aunts, cousins and grandmother were there to see her through her last day as a single woman.

Drinks, food, joy and laughter were enjoyed by all. Emily’s father offered her bread and wine as she walked from the house. The gift of bread and wine often signifies a wish that the bride and groom will never go hungry or thirsty and will have a life filled with happiness. As Emily took her last steps from her parent’s home tradition dictated that she did not look back.

It was so lovely to see how everyone in the family were part of Emily’s big day and I could see it meant a lot to her.

Kamesburgh Gardens in Brighton, the venue for the ceremony, looked glorious in the warmth of the afternoon sun. The perfectly maintained formal gardens, with the Italianate Victorian mansion in the background, made for a picture-perfect setting.

Emily’s bridesmaids wore vintage style Review dresses in vibrant pink that contrasted beautifully with the green of the surrounding gardens.

As the wedding party descended the pebbly aisle, Beyonce’s voice sang out and with a click of their fingers the boys and the girls danced down the aisle.

Emily’s father led her down the aisle with her eggshell blue Sonia Cappellazzo dress and veil flowing in the breeze. Buxton, Emily and Mark’s beloved Jack Russell, made the cutest ring bearer in his mini dinner jacket!

I loved the bright colours and playful relaxed atmosphere in which Emily and Mark enjoyed each other’s company. An ice cream truck eased the heat and also made for a nice photo opportunity as well!

The reception was held at Sandringham Yacht Club which offered a large open space with sweeping bay views.

Emily and Mark had such vibrant personalities that shone in the fun and colourful décor. There were wild flowers mixed with orchids, vintage vases, and one amazing table filled with jars of all shapes and sizes holding sweets and treats to make anyone’s inner child light up!

The day was magical and reflected an inner beauty and lightheartedness throughout the whole event.

It was a pleasure to spend time with this lovely couple for their engagement, and then to be asked to be a part of their special day as well.
